Hello and thanks for stopping by.
My name’s Sarah Wild and I’m an artist and illustrator based in the UK. The Drawing Diary is a record of my investigations into and explorations of drawing and mark making. The focus is on process rather than product, so the results may not always be pretty!
If you are wondering what the term ‘direct response’ means it’s just the name I’ve given to certain types of drawings. I do them without looking at the paper at all – in this they are similar to blind contour drawings except with blind contours we study minute details, whereas my subjects tend to be large – scenes and people.
I always enjoy reading comments, so why not share your thoughts with me.

Sarah
I really like your drawings. It’s more difficult than many people imagine to get it right with so few lines.
