Hooray – I’ve got my frames back!
This one’s a continuous line drawing – and a wonky scan.

Sisters, sisters
I still haven’t got into my drawing groove since I moved. I’d like to get out and do some out doors sketching but it’s too cold and my hands become impossibly painful very quickly so that will have to wait. But now I’m not near to coffee shops and libraries and other warm places it leaves me a little stuck. I draw things inside of course and I’m playing around a lot with colour at the moment but, but… I know in part this is simply a product of moving – I’m not yet settled or relaxed, haven’t quite found my way or rhythm. No matter. I will come.
Tonight we’re going to a wildlife group meeeting and talk so I’ll take my sketchbook and see what I can capture.
I drew these two in the Doctors surgery earilier today. Unfortunately I didn’t quite judge the size right and couldn’t squeeze them onto the page, however I think something of the dynamic between the two is there, which I’m pleased about.
Since I started drawing without looking I’ve found I draw much larger so I often get this problem. I guess I need a larger sketchbook!

Ugh. So long since I updated here – I have been working a lot and also messing about with watercolours, but that’s about ti – oh and a very straightforward drawing of an onion over on my other blog. Anyway, here are some people sketched very quickly whilst waiting for the bus. I used a brushpen later to emphasise some of the lines and make the sketches more ‘readable’.

No not me, the poor guy in this sketch. That wasn’t what was actually happening, but it is what it looks like to me:
Tell me off, why don’t you
These sketches were done with inktense pencils which are wonderful when you add water – unfortunately my scanner isn’t good enough to pick up the tones.
WordPress used to frame images when I added a caption but no more – I wonder if it’s because I changed the theme?

Wishing you all a wonderful, fulfilling New Year.
We are settling into our new house – it’s been a bit stressful, moving just before Christmas and I have had little time to draw or do anything except unpack. We were also without internet access until Christmas Eve – so that was a nuisance, but now, almost all of our 4,000 books are shelved and we can start 2009 with some semblance of normality!
