Two boys – Fort William
August 14, 2008 · Leave a Comment
We are back from Scotland! I did very little sketching – mainly due to the persistent rain and the midges which are about in the evening, biting. I did manage to sketch these two though – the boys and bench are drawn without looking, I then looked to add the fence and some squiggly grass. I used watercolour pencils and did add water but the scanner has not really picked that up.

How very domestic…

Here’s my cooker again. I’m amazed that in this one and the sketch below of the washing up, I’v drawn the perspective without looking. My hand eye coordination is improving very quickly – I’m also liking the style of drawing that’s emerging, with the layering. This is something I find quite hard to do when I’m actually looking at the paper.
I’m off to Scotland tonight, so no posts for a while, but I hope to come back with drawings from the holiday – that’s if it stops raining long enough for me to get my sketchbook out!

Whilst my partner was washing up last night I took the opportunity to do a couple of quick drawings. Unffortunately I only had a small sketchbook with me ad when I’m drawing tis way I like to work quite large and freely – so his legs are next to him!
And here’s his top half again, and some of the piles of washing up draining on the cooker top. I really like the way the transparency of the saucepans.
